Overview
Autofill is a feature used in modern browsers that allows you to automatically store and fill certain information. This is not recommended for browsers used with RecDesk because it can interfere with data entered using your credit card swiper and/or barcode reader. If you have this feature enabled, this article explains how to disable it and clear your browsing data.
Disabling Autofill and Clearing Autofill Data in Chrome
Disabling Autofill in Chrome
- Click on the Chrome menu (three dots at top right of the screen);
- Click on Settings;
- In the Autofill section, click on Payment methods
- Toggle the setting Save and fill payment methods to OFF if it is toggled on. The change will automatically be saved.
- Click on Autofill on left menu;
- Click on Addresses and more
- Toggle the setting Save and fill addresses to OFF if it is toggled on. The change will automatically be saved.
Clearing Autofill Data in Chrome
- Click on the Chrome menu (three dots at top right of the screen);
- Click on History;
- Then click on History again at the top of the drop down;
- Click on Clear browsing data on the left menu;
(you can also press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL as a shortcut for steps 1-4); - Under Time range, select of All time or The beginning of time and make sure Autofill form data is checked;
- Click Clear browsing data.

- Click on the Firefox menu (three lines at top right of the screen);
- Click on Options;
- Click on Privacy & Security;
- In the Forms & Autofill section, uncheck Autofill Addresses. change will automatically be saved.
Clearing Autofill Data in Firefox
- Click on the Firefox menu (three lines at top right of the screen);
- Click on Options;
- Click on Privacy & Security;
- Under History, click on Clear History;
(you can also press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL as a shortcut for steps 1-4); - Under Time range to Clear, select Everything and make sure Form & Search History is checked;
- Click on Clear Now.
Notes:
Please know that RecDesk is NOT storing credit card information, but your browser's Autofill feature may be. This could lead to arbitrarily charging a previously used card in your software. It is critical that you disable your autofill settings in all browsers you are using for RecDesk transactions.
