Overview
In this article, you'll learn which type of credit card readers work with RecDesk. (Note: Canadian Clients should please reach out to your Customer Success Manager before making any purchase)
Credit Card Readers that Work with RecDesk
- RecDesk Payments is our preferred payment processor. It supports EMV readers which allow chip reader transactions, and NFC Payments (i.e. Tap to Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, etc). The EMV readers must be purchased/leased and provisioned by our partner vendor POS Portal here.
-
The following payment processors allow any standard USB triple-track magnetic card reader. It must be a reader that supports Keyboard Emulation (KBE). An example card reader can be found here
- Authorize.net
- Point & Pay
- Avenu
- Invoice Cloud
- Stripe - Only for existing Stripe account holders. This is not a processor you can establish a new connection with.
- Fiserv - for non-EMV credit card transactions. For EMV (chip) reader transactions, NFC Payments (i.e. Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, etc. only when you absorb processing fees), and Tap to Pay Payments, see below.
- Fiserv is another payment processor supporting EMV readers which must be purchased/leased directly from Fiserv. For more information and options, please contact your Fiserv Representative.
Notes:
When entering/swiping card numbers in-house, it is very important to disable and clear the Autofill setting in your browser, so it does not negatively impact your credit card entries/swipes. See how to disable Autofill and clear Autofill data in the different browsers here: Why Should I Disable Autofill in my Browser?
FISERV Customers: Contactless / NFC payments will not work on accounts setup with Service Fee's. The card will need to be inserted into the device or swiped in order for it to be approved, and the service fee added successfully. Only customers that are absorbing the service fee will have access to use the tap pay feature of the reader, or Apple Pay.
